ABOUT DAVID DIAL
Renowned as one of the world’s leading electronic-music orchestrators, Ohio-born Multi-Keyboardist David Dial is also an accomplished Music Producer, Composer, Arranger, Orchestrator, Vocalist, Entertainer, Sound Engineer, Website Developer, Photographer and Videographer.
Through the years, he has worked with such luminaries as Carol Channing, Burt Bacharach, Peter Allen, James Darren, et al. and, as a professional “working musician” for over forty years, he has performed in nearly every state in America, in Canada, Australia, Europe, Central America and Asia.
As a studio musician he has played on various Artist recordings, composed and produced music for documentaries, commercials, television and music production libraries.
As a music producer David utilizes his own personal in-home digital project studio, where he records, arranges and electronically orchestrates a variety of artist-based music projects as well as performance background tracking for many shows.
David was born and raised in Knox County Ohio in his hometown of Mt. Vernon. His interest in music began at the early age of 5 when he started piano lessons and was introduced to the “Boogie Woogie” piano style by his teacher.When old enough, (and his arms were long enough) he began study of the trombone in public school.
Upon arriving in Los Angeles in the mid 1970’s, David served as Music Director, Band-Leader or Sideman in a variety of music ensembles and was soon chosen by theatrical producer Herb Rogers to be Musical Director for the Southern California production of Neal Simon’s Broadway Musical “They’re Playing Our Song”, starring Timothy Bottoms.
A member of ASCAP, David was awarded the Jeannie Star Sapphire Award for Excellence as a Composer and Producer by the Southern California Motion Picture Council and through the years has worked with such luminaries as Carol Channing, Burt Bacharach, Peter Allen and a host of lesser known celebrities and developing artists.
Along the way he arranged and orchestrated the symphonic score for a 40-piece orchestra and chorus for a “Passion of Christ” based musical entitled “The Upper Room”, as well as creating the original soundtrack and performance backing tracks for the satirical musical “American Twistory”. He also arranged and orchestrated two critically acclaimed albums for Billboard chart-topping and recent Grammy-winning New Age Artist, Omar Akram.
David composed and produced the hauntingly powerful original song, “Shambala” (the featured soundtrack for “Shambala – The Music Video”) This Video has helped raise funds and awareness for the Shambala Preserve (a sanctuary for a host of abused and homeless lions and tigers) headed by screen legend, Tippi Hedren (star of Alfred Hitchcock’s “The Birds“).
David served as Production Coordinator for internationally-renowned celebrity hypnotist, Tom Silver, bringing for the first time ever, a hypnosis half-time show to major NBA and WNBA sporting events; appearing at such venues as Madison Square Garden in New York and the Staples Center in Los Angeles. He then composed an original 2-CD collection of Royalty Free Music for stage hypnotists entitled “All the Music & Sound Effects You’ll Ever Need For Your Professional Stage Hypnosis Show!”
David is the Musical and Technical Director for “Remembering The Ladies”, a multi-media concert starring British Singer/Entertainer Toni Morrell and directed by Karen G. Cadle (The Whoopie Goldberg Show, Lifestyles of the Rich & Famous). This highly acclaimed show was created and developed by David, Toni and Karen as a tribute to the legendary ladies of stage, screen and television and headlines at concert and performing arts venues throughout the United States.
David Dial and Toni Morrell were married in 1999 and have teamed up on many performing and recording projects. David served as arranger/conductor of an all-Italian orchestra for Toni’s national appearance on Italy’s prime-time television show, Domenica In on the Rai Uno network. Together they recently developed a new concert show “Come Rain or Come Shine” – a tribute to the great Judy Garland.
Currently they rebranded a new production of their highly successful “Remembering the Ladies” for the Baby Boomer market, giving the show a fresh new look and new title – “THE LEGENDARY LADIES of HOLLYWOOD”.
